Position Description
This position is responsible for university
payments to vendors and reimbursements to staff, faculty, and students, in
accordance with Seattle University policy. It includes accounts payable
verification, data entry, and review.
Essential Job Functions:
- Verifies that the proper approval is obtained on
each invoice before payment is issued. Forwards the invoice to the appropriate
department for signature approval if not yet obtained.
- Communicates with the vendor representative in
regard to incomplete and/or inaccurate invoices and check requisitions.
- Prepares journal entries for corrections of errors.
- Evaluates the financial coding of invoices to
ensure that the proper general ledger accounts were properly charged and that
University policies and procedures were adhered to.
- Takes turns in preparing check runs with the other
accounts payable staff. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
- Supervises students in absence of main supervisor.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree and two or more years of
accounting or bookkeeping experience or an equivalent combination of education
and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the
job such as those listed above.
- Must be able to prioritize work to meet
deadlines.
- Must be able to handle stressful situations.
- Must possess strong
verbal and written communication skills.
- Must work well with others.
- Strong technical and computer skills required with highly developed attention
to detail. Ability to effectively manage deadlines and multiple priorities.

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $55,000 - $60,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents
its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the
time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be
determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected
candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity
considerations, and available market information, and not based on a
candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
