Assistant Teaching Professor, Kinesiology
Position Description
The College of Arts and Sciences at Seattle University invites applications for a two-year, full-time term faculty Assistant Teaching Professor position with the Kinesiology Department. Successful applicants will begin September 1, 2024.
The Kinesiology Department is a small, interdisciplinary group providing BS and MS degrees in Kinesiology. Teaching responsibilities include a course load of 7 courses (2-3 courses per quarter) across undergraduate and graduate curricula in varying sub-disciplines of kinesiology. The preferred candidate will contribute to the College of Arts and Sciences’ commitment to diversity and inclusion and will incorporate their experience with inclusive pedagogical practices into the classroom, advising, and mentoring. Some (undergraduate, graduate) student research supervision may be available, where applicable.

Qualifications
A terminal degree in kinesiology, exercise science, or related field;
Interest, experience, and/or effective instruction in one of the following areas: statistics, data science, human anatomy and physiology, lifestyle/behavioral medicine (physical activity, nutrition, sleep), bioenergetics, exercise programming, strength and conditioning;
An ability to communicate effectively with relevant external stakeholders;
Strong organizational skills;
Workplace collegiality.
Preferred qualifications:
Industry experiences that focus on working with human performance data, particularly sensing technologies such as the following: GPS, LPS, RFID, Accelerometry/Gyroscopes, Force Plates, Power Meters, and/or Video Analysis of Movement/Gameplay.
High-level skills in using and teaching programming languages (e.g., R, Python), data management systems (SQL), and visual data analytics (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, R Shiny).
Ability to teach and develop graduate courses related to Performance Science and Data Analytics.
Demonstrated experience teaching undergraduate and graduate (MS) Kinesiology courses in biomechanics or related field.
Experience mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students.
Previous teaching experience is preferred.

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $56,000 - $70,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good
faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of
posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based
on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental
budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available
market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other
protected status.
