Undergraduate Admissions Evaluator – International Credential Evaluations

Position Description

Under the direction of the Senior Associate Director of Admissions Operations the Undergraduate Admissions Evaluator-International Credential Evaluations (UGA-ICE) carefully reviews and evaluates international transcripts for institution recognition, document authenticity and transferable credit where applicable. The UGA-ICE calculates cumulative GPAs for internationally-educated applicants. The UGA-ICE also confirms prerequisite courses are fulfilled and/or in progress and calculates major GPAs. As a key member of the Undergraduate Admissions Operations team, the UGA-ICE also plays a part in maintaining data and applicant/record cleanliness and provide support to general operations tasks throughout the year.  Our Admissions Evaluators are part of a team of innovative problems solvers with excellent organizational skills and acute attention to detail. The Operations staff work closely as a team and collaborate with campus partners. 

Responsibilities

  • Academic policy resource regarding University Core and major transfer requirements for all undergraduate degrees. 
  • Communicates directly with academic counselors and liaisons throughout the University on policy matters related to onboarding undergraduate students with transferrable credit completed in countries outside the U.S. 
  • Responds to inquiries from prospective students regarding explanations of their completed evaluations providing university transfer and credential evaluation policies where necessary. 
  • Contributes to the overall effort of meeting the University's annual undergraduate enrollment goals. 
  • Adding course equivalencies to the online TES database system where applicable. 
  • Assists to maintain data and record cleanliness in various ways working closely with the full Admissions Operations team as well as Research and Analytics; editing multiple records, general audits, scanning and assigning of documents to their respective records, exporting data for corrections, etc. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of experience (5 years credential evaluation experience). 
  • One or more years of experience in an educational environment in the areas of international credential evaluation, research, academic advising, transfer evaluation, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision and values.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with a variety of international credential evaluation resources, including AACRAO EDGE, WES and other credential evaluation services to verify the authenticity of international credentials.
  • Experience evaluating international academic credentials, including transcripts, diplomas, and certificates, to determine equivalencies to U.S. educational standards.  
  • Experience conducting comprehensive reviews of foreign educational systems, grading scales, and credentials from various countries.  
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and evaluate complex academic credentials from diverse international backgrounds. 
  • Familiarity with Ellucian Colleague, CRM experience – specifically Slate .  
  • Familiarity with TES (Transfer Evaluation System). 
  • Strong knowledge of FERPA and SEVIS. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new technology.

Compensation at a Glance:

Salary Range: $45,000-$48,000

Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, and not based on a candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible*
This position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format following onboarding and training.
