Position Description
Job Description:
Marketing and Promotions:
- Creates and
executes all marketing and promotion efforts for Seattle University’s
20 varsity sports. Prepares marketing plans, works with coaches and
other departments to ensure success. Collaborate with communications
staff to ensure all digital and print marketing content and collateral,
and video board and in-game elements are visually and thematically
consistent with departmental and university brand standards.
Community and Campus Outreach and Engagement:
- Community:
Work in collaboration with Ticketing and Development to implement
community outreach programming that strategically develop support for
athletic events. Solicit group ticket sales and fan experience packages.
Campus: Develop and implement initiatives to increase student
engagement and attendance at athletic events while working closely with
Student Development, Center for Student Involvement, Resident Life and
Alumni Association.
Fan Experience:
- Responsible for
fan experience at all designated athletics home events. Create unique
in-game fan experiences that add value to patrons in attendance while
creating a home-field advantage for student athletes.
- Plan, direct and
execute game production efforts for designated team sports including
creation of game scripts, music/band, promotions, video,
cheer/dance/mascot, PA announcer, stage managers and on-court
presentations.
- Book national anthem performers, halftime acts and serves
as point person for special recognitions.
- Work as game-day director at
designated sports.
Corporate Sponsorship Activation:
- Ensure
activation and fulfillment of sponsorship agreements and develop new
marketing strategies to identify new revenue streams and available
inventory to sell to sponsors.
Supervision and Budget Supervises
marketing graduate assistants, students and interns (Flight Squad):

Manages the department’s Spirit Squad (dance/cheer, mascot and band).

Manages the day-to-day marketing budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required in marketing, business,
sports marketing, sports administration or a related field.
- Minimum of
two (2) years of combined professional experience in marketing,
promotions or events.
- Excellent communication,
organizational and interpersonal skills required.
- Proficiency with
Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign).
Knowledge of video technology, video editing, Sound Director (or similar
product), Daktronics ShowControl and related video board production
software preferred.
- Strong leader and mentor skills,
particularly with college students. Experience working in Division I
college athletics department.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule;
evenings and weekends are required.
- Compliance with the
rules and regulations of Seattle University, the NCAA, conference and
any other governing body of importance to the University.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $63,000 - $65,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents
its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the
time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be
determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected
candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity
considerations, and available market information, and not based on a
candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
