Position Description
The
Assistant Director of the Roundglass India Center at Seattle University will
oversee the day-to-day operations of the Center, ensuring smooth implementation
of its programs. Part of the Office of Global Engagement, the Roundglass India
Center focuses on the study of contemporary India and Indian Americans. The Assistant
Director role focuses on operational management, conducting research in
furtherance of programs, event coordination, and student support staff
supervision while supporting the strategic vision set by the Director and
Associate Director. The Assistant Director will also play a key role in the
Center’s work by supporting production and marketing of Desi Roots &
Routes podcast, launching webinars and other programs, promoting our
affiliated faculty and their research, and helping with student exchange
programs.
Essential
Job Duties:
Operational
Management (60%)
- Oversee daily operations of the
India Center, ensuring compliance with university guidelines. Duties may
include purchasing, booking travel and accommodations, and coordinating
with outside vendors on projects as needed.
- Coordinate and implement
high-profile events, including hosting speakers and managing logistics and
a well-executed guest experience.
- Supervise and train student
support staff to ensure effective teamwork and alignment with the Center’s
goals.
- Assist with and maintain
performance reports to track the progress and impact of the Center’s
initiatives.
- Coordinate research, logistics,
and communications for special projects as Center explores new programs
and opportunities.
Media
and Communications (20%)
- Manage the Center’s website and
social media platforms, ensuring consistent and professional
communication.
- Work with team to develop,
produce, and promote Desi Roots & Routes podcast series
highlighting trailblazing Indian Americans, featuring expert interviews
and discussions. Coordinate podcast production with external team and
guests, including scheduling, editing, and marketing.
- Promote events, podcast,
publications, and Center achievements through social media channels,
newsletters, and university networks to increase engagement and
visibility.
Support
for other programs (20%)
- Assist in tracking and
promoting affiliated faculty achievements and research.
- Support the implementation of
student exchange programs between Seattle University and institutions in
India, ensuring a seamless experience for participants.
- Provide logistical support to
faculty and students engaged in exchange programs or research projects.
- Support the promotion of Access
to Justice Project in Punjab, by coordinating with project staff at
partner institution to track reports, budgets, and updates.
- Support community relations
efforts on behalf of the Center with regional, national, and international
stakeholders doing work related to India and Indian Americans.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree with 3-5
years of relevant experience in program management, operations, or event
coordination.
- Strong interpersonal,
organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in social media,
website management, and reporting tools.
- Experience in supervising
support staff and managing daily operations preferred.
- Experience with podcast
production and promotional strategies a bonus.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Cultural familiarity and
knowledge of South Asia or Indian American concerns.

This is a grant-funded position and employment is contingent upon
grant-funding.

Compensation at a Glance
Salary Range: $68,000 - $72,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents
its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the
time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be
determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected
candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity
considerations, and available market information, and not based on a
candidate’s gender or any other protected status.

Hybrid Eligible
This
position may be eligible for a hybrid schedule after successful completion of
an introductory work period of 3-6 months. This may mean that a hybrid eligible
role will begin on-campus initially and then will transition to hybrid format
following onboarding and training. Flexible work plans are subject to periodic
