Position Description:
The Center for Student Involvement (CSI) is a student-centered, student driven department dedicated to empowering Seattle University students to explore leadership, engage in their campus community, and prepare students to be leaders for a changing world. CSI serves as a home for Student Government of Seattle University, Graduate Student Government Association, Student Events and Activities Council, HawkSquad student clubs and organizations.
The Assistant Director for Finance & Training works to provide support for over 100 student clubs and organizations by providing advising, direction, connection with other on and off campus partners, contract negotiation, risk reduction, project management, campus process knowledge and education, and the general operation of a dynamic office environment. This position is also responsible for the administration of club-wide leadership and training for all club leadership and membership. This position will have the opportunity to supervise graduate coordinators and/or program assistants. This position reports to the Director of the Center for Student Involvement.
Essential Job Functions:
- Advise and oversee the training and success of all student clubs on campus
- Administer and provide vision for campus-wide leadership program
- Collaborate with campus partners including (not limited to) the Controller's Office, Alumni Relations, Club Advisors, Athletics, University Events, Public Safety, Legal Counsel, University Advancement, Administrative Leadership - to provide safe and effective programs with and for students
- Ability to understand, navigate, revise, and create University policies pertinent to student clubs and organizations
- Coordinate and administer a comprehensive risk-averse environment for student clubs, club leaders, and faculty/staff advisors
- Administer and oversee budgets on behalf of student organizations and clubs including reduction of deficits, overspending, and other budgetary concerns
- Assist in the development of paraprofessional staff (Graduate Coordinators) who oversee major functions on behalf of CSI
- Assist in a campus effort to increase Seattle University pride, effectiveness of traditions, athletic support, and other retention-based and mission critical activities
- Assist in the management and approvals of ConnectSU, EMS, and Localist
- Provide direct support for HawkSquad Events
- Participate in and lead evening and weekend meetings, retreats, and events (required)
Marginal Job Functions:
- Participate and lead Student & Campus Life priorities
- Represent CSI on divisional and on/off campus committees/working groups
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in education or related field
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in student affairs or education
- Prior experience working with, supervising, and advising student workers and student leaders in a campus environment
- Possess an understanding of student development theory as it relates to student leadership on a comprehensive university campus and knowledge of current trends
- Demonstrates commitment to diversity, inclusion, and social justice and a connection to an institutions mission, vision, goals, and culture
- Team oriented individual with outstanding communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working through complex processes including (not limited to) contract negotiation, risk reduction, risk management, event planning, budget processes, and working with high-profile people/groups
- Detail oriented, highly organized individual who has the ability to multitask and the ability to deal with a variety of situations appropriately
- Strong computer skills including the ability to quickly learn software
- This position requires a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree in Student Development personnel or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in student activities, leadership development, advising
- Strong background in risk management, policy oversight/development, identifying liability, and contract negotiation
- Prior experience supervising paraprofessional and student staff
- Familiarity with Jesuit higher education and philosophy
- Budget management, oversight

Compensation at a Glance:
Salary Range: $57,000 - $60,000
Seattle University has provided a compensation range that represents
its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the
time of posting. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be
determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected
candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity
considerations, and available market information, and not based on a
candidate’s gender or any other protected status.
